Unsung hero.
How good has Keith Earls been this year? Seriously though, the winger has been nothing short of sensational throughout this year’s Six Nations championship, playing a pivotal role in Ireland’s Grand Slam success.
The glamour and spotlight will probably shine down on the likes of Sexton, Murray and Stockdale. But Earls deserves some serious credit for his displays, and deserves an unsung hero award.
From his incredible catch to retain possession against France, to his heroics against Elliot Daly yesterday, the Munster star has been key for Ireland from start to finish.
Speaking of that Elliot Daly tackle. How bloody good was that? And just how important was it? Ireland may have been leading 21-5 at the time, but it occurred with just four minutes on the clock in the second-half.
It could have been a momentum-swinger for England had Earls not been there. But thankfully he was, as he has been for Ireland throughout the championship.
What a player. What at an absolute warrior. As Ronan O’Gara said earlier in the championship:
“Everything good about Munster Rugby and Irish Rugby is reflected in Keith Earls.”
