Former England centre Will Greenwood has had a go at picking his British and Irish Lions XV to face the Springboks this summer in his most recent column for the Telegraph, with just one English player making his selection following a disastrous Six Nations campaign.
Eddie Jones’ side won just two of their five games, losing to Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with many of their star performers failing to flatter. Tom Curry is the only man that makes the team right now according to Greenwood, a former Lion himself.
Ireland meanwhile recovered well after a poor start, picking up wins against Italy, Scotland and England with Greenwood selecting six Irish players in his team as a result, including Johnny Sexton and Connor Murray at halfback, Robbie Henshaw at 12 and Iain Henderson in the second-row.
Stuart Hogg is the sole Scottish player in the team with Wales dominating Greenwood’s selection with no fewer than seven players in Greenwood’s starting line-up including Alun Wyn Jones, George North and youngster Louis Rees-Zammit.
