“We’re terrible”
Wallabies boss Eddie Jones has finally had enough with the Australian media after he absolutely lost it over their negativity in a press conference this morning.
Jones has been under fire since walking in the door, and a number of losses in the Rugby Championship against Argentina, South Africa, and New Zealand certainly haven’t helped cool things down.
His Rugby World Cup squad selection made things even worse, with many disagreeing with his decision to leave veterans Michael Hooper and Quade Cooper out of his final 33-man panel.
But Jones has had enough…
“I know what’s wrong with Australian rugby and part of you blokes are the problem,” Jones told a news conference.
“I can’t believe the level of negativity here. You’re so negative about everything.
“We’re going off to a World Cup you think we can’t win? Tell us we’re terrible and we will prove you wrong. I can feel this negativity – I’ve got to wash myself off because it’s just sticking to me.
“If you haven’t got anything positive to say, don’t ask please.”
One reporter asked a question about what Jones sees in his side, and the head coach interrupted sarcastically.
“Nothing, mate. We’re terrible,” he said.
“I love this negativity – it’s fantastic. I love it, love it – keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.”
“Thanks for the worst press conference I’ve ever had in world rugby. Well done – the worst I’ve ever seen.”
