Ball carrying machine.
CJ Stander capped off a wonderful season last week by being named in Warren Gatland’s British & Irish Lions squad.
The Munster and Ireland star is pretty much everything you could possibly want in a back-row forward, with his accolades and match stats all the proof you need.
Stander is particularly impressive when it comes to his ball-carrying skills and all round work rate. Stander will literally carry ball for you all day long, and he’ll beat a few defenders and make plenty of metres in the process.
Will Greenwood did an excellent Lions preview in the Telegraph yesterday, and his description of CJ Stander is simply perfect.
A force of nature. Incredible willingness to carry the ball, to run himself into the ground. CJ Stander would empty the tank in a five-a-side pub football match.
“He gives total commitment, energy and desire to win games for his team.”
Nailed it.
