Number one.
World Cup winning centre Will Greenwood reckons England will overtake the All Blacks by the end of the year in the world rugby rankings.
Eddie Jones’ side have only lost once since he took over (to Ireland in Dublin), but are yet to face the number one ranked team in the world in New Zealand.
That however, will change in 2018, as the All Blacks descend upon Twickenham for the first time under Eddie Jones’ reign, and Greenwood reckons they will topple them.
Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Greenwood says playing number three ranked Ireland at home will also work to England’s advantage in 2018.
They [England] need to use the advantage of playing Ireland and Wales at Twickenham – home turf – to create international momentum for a crack at the summit.
England’s summer tour to South Africa offers a huge opportunity to win 3-0 as they did in Australia in 2016.
Then the big one against the All Blacks. I think New Zealand and England will hold No 1 and 2 in the world rankings before they meet at Twickenham in November, not least because I think the Irish will lose a Test in Australia.
