“That’s not rugby league Sonny Bill.”
All Blacks centre Sonny Bill Williams has once again become the subject of controversy and criticism after he had a bit of a ‘brain explosion’ while playing against France at the weekend.
Williams was yellow-carded early in the second-half against the French, after he deliberately batted down a crossfield kick from outhalf Anthony Belleau. Referee Angus Gardner was also left with no choice but to award Les Blues with a penalty try.
It was an act of pure stupidity from Williams, who clearly thought he was back playing rugby league. Steve Hansen says Williams clearly doesn’t know the rules, and will learn from the mistake.
“The Sonny one he doesn’t know the rules because he was playing league,” Hansen said after the game.
“It was a good lesson for Sonny. He’ll know next time to catch it rather than hit it over the line.”
Better get studying Sonny. You’ve been in union long enough.
