This is absolutely shocking and despicable.
An Argentinian rugby player is facing up to a three-year ban from the game after a vicious and unnecessary tackle on a female rugby referee. Bruno Doglioli hit referee Maria Beatrice Benvenut with a violent no-arms tackle that left her with whiplash.
The hit occurred during a Vicenza and Valsugana and has to be seen to be believed. The ball is nowhere to be seen as Doglioli comes crashing in, flattening the official, in what can only be described as one of the most despicable moments ever witnessed on a rugby field.
To make matters worse and despite the nature of the incident, referee Maria Beatrice Benvenuti only sin binned the player for the outrageous assault that left her suffering from whiplash according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The relevant authorities however are taking a much more sever stance on the incident, with the player set to be hit with a lengthy ban of at least 30 months and as heavy as 36 months. His club, Vicenza have already taken matters into their own hands and suspended the player
Doglioli is set to turn 34 next year, so any ban would probably put an end to his career and rightfully so.
