Watch: Ronan O’Gara Was Hugely Critical Of Rory Best’s Captaincy Last Night

Ireland’s Six Nations dream is over.

Ireland’s dream of winning a third Six Nations title in four years is over after a 22-9 loss to Wales in Cardiff last night. Joe Schmidt’s men were uncharacteristically error-prone and despite dominating possession in the second-half, were unable to convert their chances, with Wales grabbing a late try to seal a famous win.

Ronan O’Gara, along with Eddie O’Sullivan and Shane Horgan, were tasked with picking apart Ireland’s performance following the game, with the former Munster playmaker citing some poor captaincy calls by skipper Rory Best as a huge concern

The final penalty count read 10-4 in Ireland’s favour, yet they kicked just three points.

I think it’s not the lineout that’s the problem, I think that it’s the decision before that. The lads [Jackson and Sexton] have kicked eighteen penalties in a row between them.
For me, if that’s an O’Driscoll or an O’Connell, he doesn’t even give the kicker an option. He doesn’t even ask, he just goes…do it. There’ll be times away from home, at 5-3, and the boys are looking at me, asking ‘ROG, do you fancy it?’ I’d only love to kick to the corner to get out of it!
But there’s times when you’re away from home, you have to build a score.

Doe he have a point?
