Ronan O’Gara has spent the last two weeks coaching alongside Joe Schmidt with Ireland.
The former Munster and Ireland playmaker has been brought into to ‘learn from the master’ that is Joe Schmidt during the USA leg of his tour and is thrilled with how well it’s gone.
“It’s been brilliant, it’s been an incredible week.”
“It reminds me of everything that’s good about Test rugby, Irish Rugby, young fellas getting the opportunity to play for their country, what a buzz.”
“Just to see the refreshing attitudes of why people pick up a rugby ball when they’re young kids. This is, I suppose the culmination of all the sacrifices coaches put into young players and there will be an awful lot of people very proud tomorrow watching hopefully a lot of new caps performing for their country.”
As for Irish Rugby itself, O’Gara is blown away with how well it’s run.
“It’s fascinating too see an organisation run so well. Everything is so well prepared, nothing is left to chance. It’s so refreshing to see, when you put the work in the results follow.
