Watch: Introducing Your New Prime Minister Nigel Owens

If anyone can get things in order it’s Nigel Owens.

Nigel Owens is widely regarded as the best referee in the world. The Welshman has become famous for his no-nonsense attitude and absolutely brilliant one liners, making him the most respected official in World Rugby.

The former World Rugby Referee of the Year is now getting in the Christmas spirit by appearing in his very first panto as none other than the Prime Minister himself.

In the panto, London has been overrun by rats led by the evil demon rodent King Rat. The people of the city are in turmoil, and Nigel appears as the Prime Minister to advise everyone to evacuate.

Nigel, who joins the likes of Gareth Thomas in embracing the Christmas tradition, says he took some tips from the former Wales captain on how to approach it.

“I was keen to get involved with Dick Whittington, it’s a fantastic community production for people in Carmarthen and Swansea” says Nigel.

“I’ve seen sporting personalities make the transition from games to on stage appearances. I was keen to join in as it looked so much fun, especially at Christmas.”

Nigel’s appearance came as a surprise to many is the fact that he wasn’t advertised on the poster. Fair play to him and best of luck!
