What a win.
Italy have heaped more misery on South African rugby by stunning them with a 20-18 victory in Florence. The Springboks have endured a torrid season, suffering heavy defeats to the likes of New Zealand and England, with this latest loss sending the famous nation into crisis.
There were joyous scenes at the Stadio Artemio Franchi after the final whistle after the hugely ranked outsiders, managed by Ireland’s Conor O’Shea, created a piece of rugby history.
The handicap on the Azzuri alone was 14 points before the game. Their stunning triumph comes just a fortnight after Ireland ended their 111-year wait for a victory over the all Blacks.
Can Ireland cause another upset today?
