Saracens are back-to-back champions.
The English giants retained their European crown in Edinburgh yesterday in a pulsating 28-17 win over Clermont. Tries from Chris Ashton and George Kruis helped the English champions into a 12-0 lead, but Clermont hit back through Remi Lamerat’s converted try.
After Owen Farrell edged Sarries eight points clear, a dazzling Nick Abendanon try saw Clermont edge within a point. But Alex Goode’s try and Farrell’s boot ensured Saracens retained their crown.
Billy Vunipola was named man of the match for his incredible performance on the day. The Lions star made 20 carries for 72 metres, with 12 gainline successes. Vunipola however, clearly wasn’t content enough with smashing through the Clermont defence all afternoon and decided to target the dressing room ceiling in the celebrations!
