Willie le Roux is set to land in Coventry this week.
The Springbok revealed he would be joining Wasps during the summer, but only joins up with the Premiership this week after a short stint in Japan’s Top League.
The versatile back spent just one season at Super Rugby franchise the Stormers, before deciding to join Dai Young’s Wasps’ revolution, linking up with the likes of Kurtley Beale and Danny Cipriani at the Richoh Arena.
The 27-year-old, who has 41 Springbok caps, is expected to reach the club’s Broadstreet training base on Friday.
He will not be part of the action when Wasps face Exeter at Sandy Park on Sunday, but Wasps’ boss Dai Young is optimistic that Le Roux will make his debut seven days later at Sale.
“Willie will hopefully be here before the weekend,” Young said.
“He has gone back to South Africa from Japan to get the relevant visas required.
“That means he won’t be available to play against Exeter, but hopefully will be OK for next week. I obviously haven’t seen him yet, but believe he is fully fit and really looking forward to arriving here.”
No doubt Leinster will not be looking forward to playing against Le Roux as they host Wasps in the quarter final of this year’s Champions Cup
