Warren Gatland names his Lions squad on Wednesday.
It’s safe to say we can easily pencil in 20-25 names already, but the last few spots are certainly anybody’s guess. There have been plenty of surprise selections in tour squads over the years and it looks like we could be set for another few at midday on Wednesday.
The Telegraph are reporting that 24 year-old Harlequins prop Kyle Sinckler will be a surprise selection, despite all eight of his England appearances coming from the bench.
Sinckler is expected to be named ahead of more experienced tighthead props including Scotland’s WP Nel, Zander Fagerson and Wales duo Tomas Francis and Samson Lee.
The other potential surprise selections could be England’s Ben Te’o and Ireland’s Iain Henderson.
