Warren Gatland Brilliantly Shuts Down South African Reporter Following Lions First Test Win

Straight to the point.

All the talk heading into yesterday’s first Test between the Springboks and the British and Irish Lions concerning match officials centred around South African TMO Marius Jonker, but in the end, it was another man that took centre stage.

Jonker was at the heart of a huge decision that denied Willie le Roux a try but Australian referee Nic Berry is the man everyone is talking about after the Lions secured a famous win yesterday evening – well at least in South Africa.

The home side seem to feel Berry gave the Lions the rub of the green, so to speak, in many aspects of the game yesterday and that was posed to Lions head coach Warren Gatland following his side’s win and his response was fantastic.

“I know it’s easy to speak when you’re on the winning side, but do you feel that you got some of the decisions from Nic Berry did sway it toward the Lions?” Sport24 reporter Khanyiso Tshwaku said during yesterday evening’s post-match press conference.

Gatland took a long pause as if he was preparing a lengthy answer and then just look into the camera and said:

“No.”

And that was the end of that. Never change, Warren. Never change.
