Wales legend Shane Williams has had a go at picking his Lions XV.
Williams, a former Lions star himself reckons only three Welshmen are in contention as things stand due to their recent poor run of form. The former World Player of the Year has picked mostly English and Irish stars with two Scots also making his line-up.
The former winger has gone with Scotland’s Stuart Hogg at fullback over the likes of Wales star Leigh Halfpenny and England star Mike Brown with Jonny May and Liam Williams making up the back three.
Oddly he’s gone with Ben Youngs at nine despite Conor Murray’s recent form, with Irish playmaker Johnny Sexton slotting in at ten. In the centre he’s gone with Saracens and England star Owen Farrell and paired him up with Scotland’s Huw Jones.
In the pack Williams reckons Jack McGrath, Dylan Hartley and Dan Cole will make up the front-row with Alun Wyn Jones and Joe Launchbury packing up behind them in the second-row.
South African born Ireland star, CJ Stander gets the nod at six and is joined by Justin Tipuric and Billy Vuniplola in the back-row.
SHANE’S LIONS XV: S. Hogg (Scotland); L. Williams (Wales), H. Jones (Scotland), O. Farrell (England), J. May (England); J. Sexton (Ireland), B. Youngs (England); J. McGrath (Ireland), D. Hartley (England), D. Cole (England), AW. Jones (Wales), J. Launchbury (England), CJ Stander (Ireland), B. Vunipola (England), J. Tipuric (Wales).
