Reinforcements.
Ulster’s backline has taken a pretty bad beating in the last few months. Andrew Trimble, Tommy Bowe, Paul Marshall and Jared Payne have all retired, while the likes of Paddy Jackson, Stuart Olding and Charles Piutau have all departed for pastures new.
In their place so far Ulster have only managed to bring in Will Addison from Sale Sharks, and most recently – Billy Burns from Gloucester. Both being Irish-qualified.
But that may soon change with the Australian Telegraph reporting that the northern province are closing in on Wallaby star Henry Speight on a short-term deal ahead of next season. – he’s badly needed
The Brumbies star could fill a lot of gaps in Ulster’s backline, albeit only until mid-January of next year. With Louis Ludik and Luke Marshall also out injured for most of next season – he’ll be badly needed.
