French giants Toulon have released a statement after All Blacks winger Julian Savea was in a severe car crash following their game against Perpignan over the weekend.
The powerful winger flipped his car after falling asleep at the wheel, but thankfully emerged unscathed from the incident.
Following “numerous comments” regarding the incident, Toulon have stated Savea’s blood alcohol test cam back negative following the unfortunate accident.
“Following the numerous comments on the accident @juliansavea7, Rugby Club Toulonnais wishes to clarify that the blood alcohol test was negative,” the three-time European champions tweeted.
“The club has never doubted the integrity of its player and is happy to know he’s unscathed.
Savea’s wife added that the winger is renowned for falling asleep “anywhere at any minute”.
