Ireland are the 2018 NatWest Six Nations champions with a round to spare. Ireland’s bonus-point win over Scotland, coupled with England’s loss to France means Joe Schmidt’s men have the championship in the big heading into next week’s Grand Slam decider.
But today’s results are also set to have a dramatic result elsewhere. Ireland are set to leapfrog England in the World Rankings when they are released on Monday, with Joe Schmidt’s men set to be officially ranked as the number two team in the world.
Ireland are set to gain .63 of a point, while England’s loss to France means they will lose 1.88 points.
An incredible day for Ireland, but a disastrous one for England.
Irelands victory and Englands defeat also means that Ireland will replace England as world number 2 come Monday. #rugby #6Nations #FRAvENG #IREvSCO @RugbyLAD7 @nickheathsport @RugbyIre @RugbyEng pic.twitter.com/HUI1gxVgx4
