Dropped.
Rugby Australia has revealed that Wallabies Marika Koroibete, Pone Fa’amausili, and Isi Naisarani have all been dropped from their squad ahead of Saturday’s Test with the All Blacks after breaching team rule.
Koroibete is the highest-profile casualty after the trio had “dinner and drinks” with the rest of the squad at the hotel before continuing “to drink alcohol well beyond an agreed time.”
Dave Rennie is hoping the decision to leave out the three players will “galvanise” the Wallabies as they attempt to end their 35-year winless run at Eden Park against the All Blacks.
“We are building a culture of working hard for each other and being accountable for our actions,” said head coach David Rennie.
“These three players haven’t lived up to that and we’ve taken a very clear stance.
“Ultimately these three men have paid a big price for their decisions but that’s the standard we expect of each other.”
“It’s for the good of the team.
“You sweep this under the carpet and it bites you in the backside later on, so everyone’s got a clear understanding regardless of your standing in the team there’s an expectation on behaviour and these three guys didn’t reach that.”
