Three HUGE Names Left Out Of 37-Man Ireland Squad For Summer Series

Omitted.

Ireland boss Andy Farrell has decided to leave veterans Keith Earls, Johnny Sexton and Cian Healy out of his squad for their summer series, opting to bring in 11 uncapped players in what is a largely-inexperienced selection.

The trio are mainstays in the Ireland set-up and were all pushing for Lions selection before missing out and will now have the summer off to rest-up and recuperate ahead of next season.

James Ryan has been named as captain in Sexton’s absence with James Lowe a surprise omission. The overall reaction appears to be positive, with games against Japan and USA valuable opportunities for inexperienced players.

Robert Baloucoune, Tom O’Toole, Nick Timoney (Ulster), Caolin Blade, Tom Daly, Paul Boyle (Connacht), Harry Byrne, Peter Dooley, Ross Molony (Leinster), Gavin Coombes and Fineen Wycherley (Munster) are the 11 uncapped players.

“I know the players will come in eager to make the most of this opportunity to pull on the green jersey and play in front of supporters for at the Aviva Stadium for the first time in 18 months,” Ireland boss Andy Farrell said.

“Johnny (Sexton), Cian (Healy) and Keith (Earls) will not be involved in this window as we grow the experience of other players.

“It will be a great opportunity to see can this group perform at this level.”
