These players will be sorely missed.
The amount of top players retiring this season is incredible. Whatever it is about this season, a whole host of club and international stars have either decided to hang up their boots or have been forced to call it a day medical reasons.
Veteran internationals such as Drew Mitchell, Jamie Cudmore and Thierry Dusautoir are all in their final season along with former Lions Mike Phillips and Ian Evans. Scottish legends Jim Hamilton, Sean Lamont and Kelly Brown are all finishing up as is Ireland and Leinster prop Mike Ross.
Here’s a list of just some of the top names set to retire or have already done so this season.
Drew Mitchell (Toulon)
Aurélien Rougerie (Clermont)
Johan Goosen (Racing 92)
Sean Lamont (Scotland)
Nick Evans (Harlequins)
Mike Phillips (Sale Sharks)
Marcos Ayerza (Leicester)
Mike Ross (Leinster)
Ian Evans (Bristol)
Jamie Cudmore (Oyonnax)
Jim Hamilton (Saracens)
Kelly Brown (Saracens)
