Overtaken.
Before a ball was kicked in Twickenham yesterday Ireland were in a position to make rankings history. But as we all know – things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
A win for Ireland would have seen them climb to the top of the World Rugby Rankings for the first time in history, knocking Wales off the top after just one week.
But England’s record 57-15 win means Ireland will now drop to fourth in the world with Eddie Jones’ men climbing from fifth all the way up to third thanks to their convincing win.
Demolished, humiliated and overtaken by your oldest rivals. A dark day.
