The latest World Rankings are out and it makes for some bad reading for Scotland and Italy fans.
Scotland began their Six Nations in excellent fashion with a huge win over Ireland in Murrayfield but their loss to France on Sunday in Paris, sees them slip one place in the rankings.
Worryingly they’ve been overtaken by France after losing to them in round 2 and now sit in eight place, leaving them just about hovering above Argentina. Should they slip out of the top eight, they face the prospect of a difficult Rugby World Cup 2019 pool, with the seedings to be confirmed after the Six Nations.
Italy’s embarrassing defeat to Ireland sees them slip below Tonga in the rankings to 14th. Ireland’s win saw them gain 0.22 of a rating point and are now 1.31 points ahead of closest rivals Wales who lost 0.56 of a point after their last-gasp defeat to rivals England in Cardiff.
Eddie Jones’ side gained 0.56 of a point themselves and are now just 3.76 rating points behind leaders New Zealand.
