French side Pau have officially announced the signing of Toulon back-row Steffon Armitage.
The 30-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the Top 14 side, ending all rumours of a possible return to England. Eddie Jones had apparently been keen for Armitage to return in order to be eligible once again for the national side but he has reportedly snubbed a move to remain in France.
Pau’s official website said the deal had been agreed for several days already, but was not confirmed paperwork had not been finalised. Armitage’s will leave Toulon at the end of the current season.
Armitage had been linked with English clubs Bath and Wasps as well as a move to Lyon to link up with brother Delon.
