Some Of The Stats From The Exeter Vs Leinster Game Are Completely Nuts

Leinster pulled off a famous win over Premiership champions Exeter Chiefs last night, making it three wins from three in their pool so far. It was the Chiefs’ first loss at home in nearly a year, and the results puts Leinster in the driving seat in terms of qualification for the knockout stages.

The game itself was played at Test match intensity, with Leinster’s second try, ten minutes from time, coming after an incredible 44 phases. Looking back on some of the stats from the game shows just how intense it was, with a monstrous tackle-count from both sides for example.

Exeter completed an incredible 227 out of 258 tackles, while Leinster completing 114 from 122 attempts. The Irish province completed a staggering 177 passes, making 180 runs in the game, for just 319 metres made.

In terms of individual performances on the Exeter side, no fewer than 5 players made over 20 tackles, with Matt Kvesic completing a staggering 26 tackles, missing just one. Leinster’s top tackler in comparison was Sean O’Brien with just 12.

On the attack from, Leinster’s Jack Conan made a whopping 20 carries in the game, making a grand total of just 35 metres, such was Exeter’s defence. Meanwhile scrumhalf Luke McGrath made an astonishing 97 passes and kicked 15 times.

Incredible game of rugby, and a hell of a way to end the weekend.
