The Six Nations finally has a new sponsor for 2018. Well kind of.
After 14 years as the RBS Six Nations, from next year on Europe’s premier international competition will be know as the NatWest Six Nations according to a report in The Rugby Paper this morning.
NatWest have been part of the RBS group for over 20 years, so while it will be a new title sponsor, the same company will be providing the sponsorship after officials failed to attract a new brand after initially rejecting the offer from RBS last year.
It’s believed to be worth £9m a season, which is considerablly less than the inital £56m over four years they turned down from RBS last year. The new deal however, is only for one season, with talks to extend beyond that still underway.
Montpellier owner Mohed Altrad is said to have held informal talks about sponsorship.
