Scottish base.
The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) are set to agree a takeover with Aviva Premiership side the Worcester Warriors according to a report in The Rugby Paper this morning.
The same paper revealed back in September, that the SRU were keen to take control in order to set up a Scottish base for their internationals that want to play in the Premiership.
A failed bid by former Swindon Town FC chairman Jed McRory has now put the SRU in pole position.
“The Scots are keen to have an enclave in England, they have the neccessary finances and it’s a very interesting project for them” A Worcester source told The Rugby Paper.
“They have nothing outside Glasgow and Edinburgh and this is a logical way to broaden their base.”
The SRU are yet to comment.
