Scotland international Finn Russell has been sent back to his club Racing 92 for a breach of team protocol during their camp in Edinburgh.
The talented playmaker will play no part in their crucial opener with Ireland in the opening round.
Whether or not he will play any part in the remainder of the Six Nations remains to be seen.
“Stand-off Finn Russell will play no further part in preparations for Scotland’s Six Nations opener against Ireland, having been disciplined for a breach of team protocol during the week’s camp in Edinburgh. He has returned to his club.” a statement read.
Russell is one international appearance away from his 50th cap and is regarded as one of Scotland’s best players.
A huge boost for Ireland and a killer blow for Scotland.
