Scotland star Finn Russell is being lined up by Premiership side Bath.
The Glasgow star has been in fine form this season and is being lined up as a potential replacement for England playmaker George Ford. Bath Director of Rugby Todd Blackadder revealed last month that they will not stand in Ford’s way despite the outhalf having 18 months to run on his contract.
Ford is said to be interested in a move to Sale Sharks, and it interest is said to be mutual.
The Scottish Daily Mail believes the SRU has a fight on its hands to keep hold of Russell after a string of impressive performances for Glasgow Warriors in the Champions Cup. Glasgow sit top of their pool after back to back wins over last year’s finalists Racing 92.
Any deal for Russell would be seen as a massive blow to both the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland as the SRU would lose control of the player and his welfare. Toulon, Montpellier and Gloucester have also all been linked with the Scotland star in recent weeks.
Russell also has 18 months to run on his contract but as in the Ford case, a compensation agreement could be met. David Denton had a year left on his deal at Edinburgh, but the SRU took the compensation from Bath and let him go.
