Saracens are poised to officially announce one of the worst kept transfers in rugby.
The European champions are set to announce the signing of Wales star Liam Williams on Friday and remain in the market for at least two lock forwards according to the Telegraph. The deal has been in the news for many months now.
The talented fullback will need to earn one of four wildcard selections next season, afforded to the Welsh coach to select non-domestic based players under the so-called “Gatland’s law” should the deal go through.
The Welsh Rugby Union have now reportedly upped their efforts to lure Leigh Halfpenny back from French giants Toulon, with a dual-contract offer on the table with his former club Cardiff Blues.
Wales chief executive Martyn Phillips has today revealed that they have made “the best offer it can” to bring back the fullback. Williams will join Saracens as an indirect replacement for the Toulon bound Chris Ashton.
