You just couldn’t make this stuff up.
It seems Johan Goosen’s ‘retirement’ isn’t exactly going to plan. The former Racing 92 playmaker shocked the world last month when he revealed that he was retiring from rugby at just 24 years of age.
The 2016 Top 14 player of the year is now being sued by his former employers, who seem to believe his retirement was a ploy to get out of his contract, with a move to Gloucester reportedly in the works.
He is also said to have debts with the club in relation to loans given to him by the owners. Netwerk 24 are now reporting that the Springbok star was involved in a shooting incident on his family’s farm in South Africa last week.
Apparently Goosen accidentally shot his friend in the ankle last Tuesday. The duo are set to give statements to the police, with no further info to be released until then. Goosen is said to be traumatised by the whole ordeal.
