Ronan O’Gara Set For Ireland Coaching Role

Ronan O’Gara is set to join Girvan Dempsey and Felix Jones as part of an extended coaching team on Ireland’s summer tour to the US and Japan.

While Dempsey and Jones are both working in Ireland with Leinster and Munster respectively, this would mark a first Irish coaching role for O’Gara since his retirement from the game back in 2013.

The legendary playmaker took up a position with Racing 92 almost immediately after retirement, where he has remained ever since, progressing up the ranks to become their lead defence coach.

The Corkman signed a contract extension last year keeping him in Paris until 2019, but it’s understood his long term plans would be to get into the coaching set up back in Ireland, ideally with his old club Munster.

All three coaches will be working in skills based roles and opposed to filling in for Andy Farrell who will be with the British & Irish Lions.
