British & Irish Lions scrumhalf Rhys Webb showed his class over the weekend by stopping to help out an elderly lady in need.
On Friday in Bridgend, Webb spotted an elderly woman attempting to cross a busy road and approached her to give her a helping hand. The lady was described as looking ‘lost and confused.’
She had been visiting a friend and had no mobile phone or key to get in home. She was trying to make her way to a local doctor’s surgery where her husband had an appointment that day, but couldn’t locate a taxi.
Recognising the woman was in need, Webb stopped, spoke to her and told her to jump in his car before giving her a lift to the surgery. The elderly woman’s daughter, posted the following message on Webb’s Instagram’s page expressing her gratitude.
“I wanted to contact you to say a huge thank you for helping my elderly mother on Friday in Bridgend,” wrote Liz Brett.
“You stopped in your car to offer her a lift as she was looking a bit lost and confused. She had no key to get in to the home, no mobile phone and was trying to get to Oldcastle surgery to find my dad who had an appointment there.
“My sister and I are so grateful that you took the time to help her. We are so touched that a young man would think to stop to help and go out of your way to give her a lift. We are so hugely grateful and can’t thank you enough for you chivalry.
“My mum said you were utterly charming. Thank you so much Rhys. Your are a gentleman. Thank you so much, Liz Brett.”
Faith in humanity restored.
