Referee Nigel Owens has been awarded the Guinness PRO12 Chairman’s Award this evening for his outstanding contribution to the Championship.
The 45-year-old former World Referee of the Year is the most experienced referee in the Guinness PRO12, taking charge of hist first game on August 30, 2002 which saw Border Reivers take on Connacht.
Owens took charge of his 150th Guinness PRO12 game last month when he was the man in the middle for the Judgement Day clash between the Dragons and Scarlets. The Welshman has taken charge of four Celtic finals and will take charge of his sixth European final this weekend as Clermont challenge holder Saracens.
