Ali Williams has been suspended by Racing 92 after being arrested for cocaine possession.
The former All Blacks lock was caught in possession of the drug along with Toulon star James O’Connor.
The duo were spotted trying to allegedly buy cocaine by plain-clothes police officers in the early hours of Saturday morning outside a nightclub near the Place Charles de Gaulle around 03:00. According to the report, Williams, 35, and O’Connor, 26, were allegedly spotted handing over 200 euros to two suspected dealers in exchange for cocaine.
Williams was then spotted at the time of the arrest allegedly trying to throw the three packets of cocaine away, which were picked up by investigators. Both players were then taken into police custody.
Racing 92 have now released the following statement, revealing his suspension.
“The Racing 92 is a club which since its birth has been structured around two pillars, sporting demand, and education, respect for values that build exemplary men and women.
“In this context, it was decided to suspend Ali Williams. If the investigation confirmed the possession of cocaine and the transaction, it would not only be an offense under the law but also a serious fault in terms of our ethics.”
We’re yet to hear from Toulon regarding O’Connor.
