Shortlist.
Glasgow Warriors head coach Dave Rennie is one of three men shortlisted to replace Michael Cheika as Wallabies boss according to a report by Stuff.
Cheika looks destined to leave his post with Australia following the Rugby World Cup in Japan after a turbulent couple of years as head coach of the Wallabies. And a list of names has reportedly already been drawn up by Rugby Australia (RA).
Top of the list are outgoing Wales boss Warren Gatland and England head coach Eddie Jones, who led Australia to the 2003 Rugby World Cup final.
Gatland will be a free agent, while Jones is contract with England for two more years after the World Cup. Rennie is also contracted beyond the World Cup (2020) but the lure of international rugby might be too much for him to resist.
Rennie is highly rated as a coach with former All Blacks assistant Wayne Smith recently stating he’s good enough to coach any country in the world – including his native New Zealand.
