Picking A Lions Midweek Team That Could Do Some Damage In New Zealand

Building momentum.

Now that Warren Gatland has named his British & Irish Lions team we can start planning ahead for the tour of New Zealand. The overall consensus seems to be that he did a good job picking the touring party, with only a couple of questionable decisions.

When rumours started to come out that Jamie Roberts would be on the plane over Jonathan Joseph, we were really worried, but alas rumours is all they were.

A lot of pundits have had a go already at picking a Test XV based on the squad selected, but what about the midweek games? At the end of the day the tour will be remembered for the Tests, but building some momentum in the midweek keeps is hugely important.

This time round the Lions will face the New Zealand Super Rugby franchises, which will be no easy feat. Throw in a game against the Maori All Blacks and you’ve got a hell of a fixture list. This is where however, we’ll get to see some really interesting combinations. Here’s a midweek team we reckon could do some serious damage.
