This looks nasty.
Former Newport Gwent Dragons, Gloucester, Wasps and London Welsh fullback the Martyn Thomas lined out for Welsh side Merthy this past weekend and had a day to forget.
Not only did his side crash out of the WRU National Cup semi-finals to a last-gasp try from RGC 1404 wing Sam Jones, he also got a battering off the rugby pitch of all things.
Thomas posted a gruesome image following the game of the dangers of 4G pitches, with his knees absolutely torn to shreds.
In fact a total of seven players were left with vicious wounds as a result of the surface. Check out Thomas’ below. Pretty horrific.
Gutted for everyone involved at @RFCMerthyr.Great occasion but a tough loss.I do ask @PontypriddRFC to sort their 4g pitch out though please pic.twitter.com/TyeqnAjUuT
