It’s my field.
Jamie Heaslip has been looking back on Ireland’s game with Italy yesterday afternoon and who could blame him.
Heaslip and crew breezed past Conor O’Shea’s men in a nine-try, 63-10 win, with CJ Stander and Craig Gilroy grabbing a hat-trick each, Keith Earls grabbing a brace and Gary Ringrose scoring a brilliant individual effort.
Munster lock Donnacha Ryan made his return to the starting line-up yesterday, and while he got sin-binned in the first-half, put in an excellent shift and showed Schmidt what he was missing against Scotland.
While going back over the game, Heaslip came across a brilliant image of Ryan in the sinbin, adding an excellent caption made famous by Richard Harris in John B Keane’s the Field.
No. It’s my field. It’s my child. I nursed it. I nourished it. I saw to its every want. I dug the rocks out of it with my bare hands and I made a living thing of it! My only want is that green grass, that lovely green grass, and you want to take it away from me, and in the sight of God I can’t let you do that!
