Battered.
Ireland were beaten up and bullied tonight by England in a bruising affair in Dublin. Keith Earls was forced off very early with a hip injury after some very questionable hits from England, while there’s also concern for CJ Stander and Devin Toner.
Toner appears to have damaged his ankle, further adding to Ireland’s second-row woes with Iain Henderson and Tadhg Beirne already out. While Stander suffered a nasty facial injury that was picked up by the tv cameras.
“Keith Earls is pretty sore, he’s got a hip pointer. He got his a couple of times early and was very sore. CJ Stander, we think has a facial injury, he’s gone for a scan.” Head coach Joe Schmidt said after the game
“Dev Toner with an ankle [issue], just taking that kick-off at the end of the game. It looks like he’s rolled his ankle. It’s been a bit problematic for him recently.”
“The other guys are just bumps and bruises. There are physical and emotional bruises there for sure.”
Check out Stander’s injury below. Looks very nasty. A potential fracture perhaps.
