Pascal Pape In Trouble For His Ridiculous Dive In Edinburgh Game

Stade Francais lock Pascal Pape has been issued with a warning for his antics during his side’s game with Edinburgh this past weekend.

Pape put on an acting masterclass in the game, hitting the ground like a sack of spuds after being on the receiving end of a slap to the face from Edinburgh inside centre Phil Burleigh, 15 minutes in the second half.

Burleigh was shown a straight red card as a result of the incident, however in an interesting response, the match citing commissioner, Ireland’s Eddie Wigglesworth, has warned Pape over his conduct which he said was in contravention of Law 10.4 (m) — Acts contrary to good sportsmanship.

The French lock has found himself embroiled in it plenty of times throughout his career, including smashing into Ireland’s Jamie Heaslip and leaving him with a fractured vertebrae, and of course we can’t forget that famous Sean O’Brien punch on Pape at last year’s Rugby World Cup.

Thankfully the citing commission has shown they will not let rugby descend into the kind of antics you would see in football.
