Madness.
England captain Owen Farrell has just been red-carded in Saracens’ game against Wasps this afternoon following an absolutely shocking high tackle on Charlie Atkinson.
Farrell doesn’t exactly have the best of reputations when it comes to his tackle technique with the outhalf infamous for leading with his shoulder far more often than not. But there was no shoulder in this tackle, instead, Farrell nearly took Atkinson’s head off with a massive clothesline.
No doubt a decent ban will come with the red card, which is potentially good news for Leinster in terms of their Champions Cup quarter-final clash with Saracens in a fortnight.
Have a look for yourself below. Nasty stuff from Farrell.
Shocking swinging arm from Owen Farrell and deserved a red card. Decent ban coming too, I talked about his tackle technique on @TheRugbyPod previously and it was a case of when this happened not if….. pic.twitter.com/kpnkqjETrp
