Owen Farrell On What Makes A Lions Tour So Special

When four becomes one.

Land Rover, a Principal Partner of the British & Irish Lions, recently took the opportunity to bring together a host of its brand ambassadors for a day of off road driving and team bonding before the players depart for New Zealand.

Owen Farrell heads to New Zealand on his second successive Lions tour, but for the young Englishman, it’s going to be a completely different experience this time round. Farrell was just 21 years of age the last time he travelled, and was very much a midweek player. This time he’s in line to be a Test match star.

Paul O’Connell praised Farrell for his leadership in Australia at such a young age last time round, and you can imagine he will no doubt be one of the senior figures in the background this time round, leading by example.

Farrell however is wary of just how difficult it will be to bring the Lions together in such a short period, but believes it’s part of what makes the Lions so special.

“What’s special about a Lions tour is that people have to come together and have to bond quickly, it’s not like you spend years together like you have with your club or country. It’s about getting together and getting to know each other, so that you can take that chemistry out on the field.” Farrell said speaking on behalf of Land Rover, a Principal Partner of the Lions
