Not impressed.
England captain Owen Farrell got into a feisty exchange with referee Luke Pearce as Saracens took on Bristol Bears in the Gallagher Premiership on Saturday.
The conversation between the pair was picked up by the referee’s microphone and the broadcaster’s cameras in the 54th minute as Saracens were awarded a penalty.
Farrell pointed out to Pearce as soon as the penalty was rewarded that it was indeed the third time that the Bears had infringed, perhaps suggesting that the visiting side were on thin ice in terms of a harsher punishment.
Pearce then responded to Farrell with a sarcastic acknowledgment – and the playmaker was not impressed.
Farrell: “That’s three at the maul.”
Pearce: Thanks, I can count.”
Farrell: “Don’t be rude to me, there’s no need to be rude to me.”
What do you think? Was Farrell right to be annoyed?
