New Zealand Rugby have reopened the investigation into Aaron Smith after reports the scrumhalf allegedly lied team management over a toilet incident in an airport with a woman last year.
Shocking details emerged yesterday regarding his airport bathroom romp. Apparently Smith had been having an affair with the woman for two years before they were caught having sex in the disabled toilet of an airport according to the Daily Mail.
Explicit Facebook messages obtained by Daily Mail Australia show Smith proposing their toilet liaison asking for a ‘special toilets f***’, saying the pair had to be ‘sneaky’ as his All Black teammates were nearby.
The messages show that the Highlanders star lied to his All Black bosses about what really happened between him and the woman, and that the player tried to get her to sign a false affidavit to go along with his fabricated version of events, a request she refused.
“Based on information published today [Thursday] New Zealand Rugby believes that it needs to investigate the Aaron Smith matter further and has instructed an independent lawyer to do so,” an NZR statement read.
“Until those enquiries are complete we will not be making any further statements to the media. It is effectively an employment issue that requires investigation.”
