New Scarlets signing Johnny McNicholl has undergone emergency surgery on a medical complaint just days after making his first appearance for PRO12 side.
WalesOnline are reporting that the Kiwi winger was rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon for an acute medical complaint. McNicholl arrived in Llanelli at the start of last month on a three-year deal after helping his provincial side Canterbury clinch the Mitre 10 Cup.
Less than 72 hours after making a try-scoring debut he was being rushed into hospital. A Scarlets spokesperson said:
“Johnny McNicholl had emergency surgery on Monday afternoon for an acute medical complaint.
“It is anticipated that his recovery will be uncomplicated and he will be available for selection later this month.”
McNicholl will now miss the Champions Cup double header against Toulon at the very least.
