Badly needed.
It’s been a strange season for Munter fans, all things considered. A poor start to the season left the southern province near the foot of the URC table but recent wins over Ulster and the Lions have put them back into contention for a coveted top-eight finish.
A problem area for the province for the last some of seasons has been hooker, with a number of players failing to hold down the number two jersey. Scott Buckley impressed with two tries off the bench against the Lions, but the 22-year-old is seen as more of a long-term solution, rather than an immediate one.
And with that, the province have reportedly entered the market for one of the world’s very best with RugbyPass reporting they have tabled a “sizeable” offer for Springboks hooker Malcolm Marx.
The 28-year-old is currently signed with the Kubota Spears in Japan and would be a substantial coup for the Irish side if they can get a deal done.
