Jesus that was a physical one.
Munster’s Champions Cup campaign is back on track after a 14-7 win over French giants Racing 92 tonight. After last week’s disappointing draw against Castres, the southern province knew nothing less than a win would do.
An extremely physical and tense first-half saw the two sides go in level at 0-0 for the break. Munster had several chances, but failed to convert after turning down a number of shots in front of goal, opting instead to kick to the corner.
It took just over 60 minutes in the end before we saw our first score of the game. Conor Murray charged down a kick from a Racing 92 scrum and controlled well to give Munster the lead.
Just minutes later Andrew Conway dotted down, with Keatley once again adding the extras. A late Racing score however, could be crucial in terms of the pool, with the French side leaving Thomond Park with a losing bonus-point.
