Ireland have been dealt yet another killer blow ahead of next weekend’s World Cup warm-up clash against Wales with news that Johnny Sexton will once again be absent after picking up a fresh injury.
Sexton is yet to feature for Ireland in any of their warm-up fixtures, with Leinster teammate Ross Byrne making his first start in green yesterday as Ireland were demolished by England at Twickenham.
Joey Carbery also remains sidelined as he battles to be fit in time for the World Cup leaving Ireland’s two first choice tens with little game time before the World Cup.
Sexton took a “heavy knock to his leg in training” according to Peter O’Reilly in The Times, but us hopeful he will see some game time in Ireland’s final warm-up clash at home to Wales in two weeks’ time.
